Characteristics
While the YT-1250 offered a cargo capacity that was 20% smaller when compared to the standard YT-1200, it compensated through the inclusion of more powerful engines, enhanced weaponry, and a rudimentary shielding system. Although its upgrade potential was not as extensive as other YT-series freighters, it still allowed for modifications to align with specific user requirements.
Usage
Because the YT-1250 featured enhancements and reinforcements, its marketing focused on its utility for minor defensive roles, the transportation of cargo in dangerous environments, and its potential as an armed escort accompanying freighter groups.
History
The YT-1250 was an atypical design for CEC, considering that it wasn't a completely original creation. Following the introduction of the YT-1300, CEC accumulated a significant surplus of YT-1200s and YT-1210s. To reduce this stock, they re-engineered these pre-existing vessels and marketed them as an ostensibly "new" model. Despite this effort, sales remained slow; however, CEC ultimately succeeded in selling the entire inventory to various smaller systems and militant trading organizations.
Station TFP-9, situated on the planet Naboo, possessed a pair of these freighters for the purpose of defense.
