Together with the Xucphra Corporation, which you can read about here, Zaltin Corporation was responsible for the production and distribution of bacta across the galaxy. Situated on Thyferra, this corporation, alongside Xucphra, secured a production contract from the Empire. This agreement effectively established a monopoly for Zaltin and Xucphra, a situation that became known as the Bacta Cartel.
In contrast to Xucphra, Zaltin displayed greater empathy towards both the native Vratix and the Rebel Alliance, entering the cartel due to circumstances. Believing that the Empire was destined to fall and anticipating the Vratix's eventual pursuit of independence through the Ashern terrorist organization, Zaltin dispatched Bror Jace, whose family held significant shares in Zaltin, to serve in Rogue Squadron and began secretly supporting them with funds and security measures.
During the events of the Bacta War, Zaltin was declared illegal by Ysanne Isard, leading to the imprisonment of its members or their escape into the jungles to join the Ashern. They offered assistance to Wedge Antilles and his team during their efforts to liberate Thyferra, incorporating members of his team into their ranks and redeploying Jace to assist them once more. Following the war, Zaltin was permitted to resume bacta production, this time for the benefit of the Vratix.
At some point after the Yuuzhan Vong War, Derek Klivian assumed the role of spokesperson for the Zaltin Corporation.
