Zero-G Assault Stormtrooper Armor Mark I, a creation of the Galactic Empire, served as the protective gear for their Zero-G assault stormtroopers. Conceptualized by the scientist Nashiak Llalik, this powered armor incorporated fully integrated life support, crucial for combat and operations in the depths of space. Operators accessed the suit via a rear hatch, settling into an internal saddle and securing themselves with a harness and foot stirrups. The armor was optimally designed for use with stormtroopers already wearing full armor; using the suit without stormtrooper armor was cumbersome, but still feasible.
The helmet featured an integrated comlink, a board displaying suit status, and a viewscreen providing a rearward view for the spacetrooper. The chest area of the armor housed an active sensor package and tactical display, connected to sensor arrays and units mounted on the torso. The torso also contained a comlink with extended range.
The armor's backpack was equipped with a pair of grenade launchers, along with storage magazines for various types of ammunition, including gas, stun, and concussion grenades. A communications antenna was affixed to the backpack, alongside a fire extinguisher, an environmental control system, two shoulder-mounted lights, and the armor's primary repulsorlift propulsion unit.
On the right forearm of the armor was mounted a laser cutter and a blaster cannon, while the left forearm featured a miniature proton torpedo hurler. Each arm concluded in a three-fingered gripper, which could retract up the wrist, exposing an iris that allowed the stormtrooper's hand to extend out of the suit.
The legs of the suit contained attitude control thrusters, as well as auxiliary repulsorlift propulsion units mounted on the feet. Foot pedals were used to control the RPUs and the armor's magnetic couplers. A toggle located at shin level shifted the stirrup's function between attitude thruster control, and the feet housed the suit's recharging couplers and breathing gas life support systems.
A more advanced iteration of the Zero-G Armor, known as the Zero-G Assault Stormtrooper Armor Mark II, saw action with Spacetroopers during the Battle of Sluis Van in 9 ABY.
