Zrani, a Wistie of the female persuasion, belonged to the luminous fairy-folk inhabiting the forest moon of Endor before the Battle of Endor took place. She found herself a prisoner of the Dulok Agluk, who imprisoned her within a lamp. This lamp served to illuminate his path and that of four young Ewoks inside a cave concealing the Griagh. Princess Kneesaa possessed the ability to converse with her.
As the Griagh launched its assault, Zrani gave her life so that the weakened Sunstar, thrown by Logray, could be accelerated and guided towards the creature. Following the battle, during the celebratory proceedings, Chief Chirpa unveiled a flame, destined to burn eternally in remembrance of Zrani.
