During the year 1 ABY, a soldier from this squad disappeared following a survival training exercise conducted in the wilds of Corellia. A scan of his transponder indicated that he was stranded in Corellia's wilderness, suffering from a fractured leg and surrounded by approaching predators. Due to the imminent deployment of the unit off-planet, their Imperial Intelligence liaison displayed indifference towards the fate of any stragglers. However, adhering to their core value of never abandoning a comrade, the 224th bypassed standard procedures to orchestrate a rescue. They contracted skilled hunters to eliminate the threatening wildlife, while a member of the 224th undertook the task of retrieving their injured colleague.
The 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts, referenced the 224th Recon Patrol Squad before the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. Specifically, the squad was mentioned in the narrative of a mission titled "Rescue Recon Buddy From Animals," which players could access at mission terminals located on Corellia.
