44

44 was a clone trooper; he served under Clone Commander Vargus in Excelsior Company.

Biography

Among a group of six rookie clones dispatched from Kamino, 44, along with 18, 23, 35, 16, and 57, was chosen for a special assignment. Their mission: to investigate the vanishing of the 313th Legion and its Jedi General leader, Po Bandis, on Ando Prime. Upon their arrival, Vargus dispatched the Advanced Recon Force trooper, Falco, and all the rookies on a reconnaissance mission. During this mission, Falco gave 44 the nickname "Slug" due to his slow pace. After spotting the Confederacy base, Falco instructed the rookies to await his return. After an hour of waiting, 18 contacted Commander Vargus and received orders to remain in place until the rest of the squad arrived.

Once the rest of the squad caught up, they entered the outpost. Inside, they found Falco in conversation with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody. Kenobi and Cody were also on the case to solve the mystery of the missing legion. After Vargus ordered a search of the base, they located a Skakoan engineer named Vylagos and a peculiar device. Vargus threatened Vylagos by saying he would remove his helmet, which would result in his death. Due to the threat, Vylagos sent the rookies, along with Falco and Dom to rescue the legion. Upon reaching the remote Outer Rim world where the legion had been transported, they encountered General Bandis. He instructed the squad to destroy a Confederacy listening post.

Reaching the listening post, the clones commandeered a modified hailfire droid that was actually a tank. Falco used its missiles to obliterate the listening post, while Dom deployed pulse grenades against groups of droids. Upon the squad's return, the legion was gathered within a one-kilometer radius, ready to be transported back to Ando Prime.
