On September 10, 2020, StarWars.com unveiled the schedule of events for that year's Star Wars Reads, an annual initiative designed to promote reading among children and Star Wars fans spanning all age groups. As part of this announcement, StarWars.com shared a poster and cover image for 5-Minute Star Wars Stories, revealing that the book's artwork would emulate the visual style of the Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures series of animated shorts.
Despite being officially listed and announced by StarWars.com, 5-Minute Star Wars Stories never made its way to publication in the United States and failed to meet its intended release date of November 3.
