Andoan White

Andoan White, also simply called Andoan, was a type of white wine from the planet Ando. By the time of the Clone Wars, the Oga's Cantina establishment on the Outer Rim planet Batuu imported some of the wine from Ando to serve to its patrons. In 19 BBY, the Senator Padmé Amidala visited the Batuu cantina and ordered two mugs of Andoan White.

After the end of the Clone Wars, the beverage was served in the establishments 79's and Cid's Parlor on the planets Coruscant and Ord Mantell, respectively, and also kept in a wine cabinet on the planet Raxus Secundus. By 34 ABY, the wine was still available in Oga's Cantina as an offering, and the historian Eloc Throno wrote about Andoan White's traits in his Batuu guidebook.

Description

Andoan White, also referred to simply as Andoan, was a type of white wine originating from the planet Ando, the home of the Aqualish species. The historian Eloc Throno felt that the wine tasted thirst-quenching, light, and refreshing and had a crisp, balanced flavor. Andoan White was consumable by humans and could be served in mugs. It came in a brown bottle with black and yellow labels, with the drink's name written in Aurebesh.

By the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a cantina in the Black Spire Outpost settlement on the Outer Rim planet Batuu imported some of the alcoholic beverage from Ando to serve to its patrons. In 19 BBY, the cantina's bartender, Janott, offered Andoan White and other beverage selections to the human Senator Padmé Amidala upon her visit to the establishment. When Amidala chose Andoan White, he poured a few centimeters of the wine into an obsidian mug for her in exchange for five credits. As she sipped her drink, Janott inquired if she liked the wine, and the senator confirmed that she enjoyed it. Afterward, Amidala ordered a second serving of Andoan White while writing a funerary song for her deceased former handmaiden, Duja, on her datapad. After half an hour of nursing the wine, she eventually finished it and left the cantina.

Shortly after the Clone Wars in 19 BBY, Andoan was among the beverages available at the Cid's Parlor establishment in Ord Mantell City on the planet Ord Mantell. By the same year, it was also stored in a wine cabinet within the residence of former senator Avi Singh on the planet Raxus Secundus and was available in the 79's cantina on the planet Coruscant. Andoan White remained on offer at the Batuu cantina, which was renamed Oga's Cantina after its new proprietor—the Blutopian Oga Garra—around 14 BBY. In his Batuu guidebook authored in 34 ABY, Traveler's Guide to Batuu, Throno briefly described the wine's qualities in comparison to other beverages currently offered at the establishment, reccomending Oga's Cantina as a place to visit for Batuu newcomers.

Behind the scenes

Andoan White first appeared in the 2018 novel Thrawn: Alliances, which was written by Timothy Zahn. On February 28, 2019, the wine was reported to be part of the upcoming dining offerings of the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in its real-world Oga's Cantina bar. However, the drink did not appear on the menu after the land opened on May 31 of that year. Andoan White was first visually depicted in "Rampage," the fifth episode of the animated television series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which aired on May 28, 2021. Lucasfilm Animation artist Chris Madden created a concept-art illustration of the beverage's bottle design for the episode on August 16, 2019, which labeled it as "Bottle E."
