The assassination attempt on Patriarch Thooraki was an unsuccessful assassination attempt against the Chiss Ascendancy's Mitth family Patriarch Mitth'oor'akiord, core name "Thooraki," that took place before 39 BBY. The Patriarch was traveling incognito when the event occurred, causing a man from a minor family to step in after seeing Thooraki in distress. The man was killed, but his actions saved the Patriarch. Thooraki invited the man's pregnant wife to the Mitth family homestead on the planet Csilla and invited her into the Mitth, which she accepted.
Before 39 BBY, Patriarch Mitth'oor'akiord, core name "Thooraki," of the Chiss Ascendancy's Mitth family was traveling incognito.
An attempt on the Patriarch's life took place, but it was thwarted by a man that was a member of a minor family, who intervened after seeing Thooraki in desperate need. Despite being unaware of the Patriarch's identity, the man stepped in, giving his life to save Thooraki.
As a token of his gratitude, Thooraki invited the man's pregnant wife to the Mitth family homestead on the Ascendancy's planet of Csilla, where he offered her to join the Mitth family as a ranking distant, the highest position in the family he could offer. As the woman's son, Mitth'ras'safis "Thrass," was born before his mother joined the Mitth, he should have been born a ranking distant; however, as the children of ranking distants were born as cousins, the second highest position in a family, Thooraki altered the date of the woman's rematching prior to Thrass' birth, resulting in him being born a cousin.
By 19 BBY, now-Syndic Thrass recounted the incident to his friend, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, "Thrawn." Thrawn considered Thrass' father to be an honorable man.
The assassination attempt on Patriarch Thooraki was mentioned in the flashbacks of the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[2]
