Between 7 BBY and around 5 BBY, Bodhi Rook, a pilot-in-training at the Galactic Empire's Terrabe Sector Service Academy, flew an old Nu-class transport, which was in a poor state for flight, through the clouds of Bamayar IX with a number of his classmates as passengers. Rook perfectly controlled the transport, which bounced and twirled between the clouds and lightning, and earned the respect of his classmates, who cheered him on.
In 0 BBY, Rook, who had since defected from the Empire, escaped the moon of Jedha on a Rebel Alliance UT-60D U-wing transport after the Death Star superweapon fired upon Jedha's Holy City. Witnessing the colossal dust and rock storm caused by the shockwave of the Death Star's blast, Rook, aboard the U-wing, vividly imagined his time flying through Bamayar IX.
Bamayar IX first appeared through imagination in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story novelization, written by Alexander Freed and published in 2016.
