A Wookiee Elder named Merumeru carried a battle staff as his weapon of choice. This staff, brown in its hue, measured approximately half of Merumeru's considerable height. He brandished this staff in 19 BBY amidst the Clone Wars, specifically when the Confederacy of Independent Systems mounted an invasion of Kashyyyk, the Wookiee homeworld. Merumeru assembled a group of soldiers; raising the staff high, he bellowed a war cry, urging his troops to engage the Separatist forces.
The brown colored battle staff belonging to the Wookiee Elder, Merumeru, was about half the height of the Wookiee himself. It functioned as a melee weapon that could be used with a single hand.
In 19 BBY, during the era of the Clone Wars, Merumeru's staff saw battle. At this time, Merumeru spearheaded a group of volunteer soldiers to defend Kashyyyk, his homeworld, from the invading forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During this conflict, Merumeru and his volunteers positioned themselves behind a barricade on the beachfront of the city of Kachirho, anticipating the Separatist assault. As the Separatists arrived, Merumeru ascended the barricade, brandished his staff, and let out a mighty roar, leading himself and his volunteer soldiers into the fray.
The battle staff wielded by Merumeru made its debut in the 2005 cinematic release, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Subsequently, a promotional image depicting Merumeru with the staff was featured in various publications. The weapon was officially identified as a battle staff within Merumeru's profile in the StarWars.com Databank, and it received mention in The Clone Wars Campaign Guide as a potential weapon for players in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.
During the filming of Revenge of the Sith, Axel Dench, the actor who portrayed Merumeru, used a wand-like prop as a stand-in for the staff. This wand was then digitally enhanced with computer-generated imagery to resemble a battle staff.
