Bravais

Bravais was an Inner Rim astronomical object that featured hot deserts. The celestial body's flora and fauna had adapted to live underground during the day. Bravais was the homeworld of the sentient Bravaisian species.

Description

Bravais was a terrestrial celestial body located in the regions known as the Inner Rim Territories and the Slice. It was situated in grid square O-9 of the Standard Galactic Grid and lay on a hyperspace route that connected it to the planets Onderon and Rajtiri.

Bravais's surface featured intensely hot dirt and sand deserts. They were inhabited by plants with tubers as well as a variety of creatures living in subterranean dens and nests, such as insects. The plants only extended their feeding tendrils aboveground at night, and the creatures similarly only emerged during the periods of darkness, which led Bravais's deserts to appear lifeless during the day.

History

Bravais was mentioned in an entry of an artist's journal dedicated to the celestial body's native Bravaisian species. The journal was eventually restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.

Inhabitants

Bravais was the homeworld of the sentient Bravaisians. They evolved from a type of pack hunter creatures, who used their snouts and tongues to search for tubers and insects. In order to avoid Bravais's heat and protect their small, sensitive eyes from light, the Bravaisians led a nocturnal lifestyle. Offworld, most Bravaisians wore protective goggles, with some travelers even surgically removing their eyes altogether.

Behind the scenes

Bravais was introduced in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy by Jason Fry.
