The Cynestra Space Craft Show, a showcase of space craft, transpired on an artificial satellite that orbited the blue world of Cynestra during the Galactic Civil War.
Located above the planet of Cynestra, this particular space exposition witnessed a pivotal moment. On the show's seventh day, Elhon Tay from Tay Industries unveiled a lone D-Wing Space Superiority Fighter prototype. Tay's goal was to convince the Empire to purchase his design as a replacement for the TIE fighters, which he considered deeply flawed. Knowing he needed to prove the craft's worth before any sale, he launched an expensive advertising campaign to attract the attention of the Imperial Navy. Sienar Fleet Systems, the primary manufacturer of the Imperial TIE fighters, did not take kindly to this potential disruption by a smaller corporation. They dispatched secret agents to the show, aiming to sabotage the prototype before its official unveiling; however, their efforts were unsuccessful.
Rogan B.B. Cham, a HoloNet News reporter who also acted as a Rebel spy, planned to attend the space show. He soon discovered the impending unveiling of a new and formidable starfighter. He then contacted operatives within Rebel Intelligence. They arranged for a Captain named Reeves to meet with a Rebel cell at The Atomic Punk, a clandestine Rebel base disguised as a closed nightclub on the planet Yukka. Reeves provided the Rebels with the intelligence required to seize the D-wing prototype. The group then rendezvoused with Cham, who transported them to the show aboard his ship, The Doobage, smuggling them in disguised as cargo.
The Rebel group's mission was to either capture or destroy the prototype, but lacking a specific plan, they were forced to improvise. This presented complications when Grand Moff Torith made an appearance, expressing his own interest in the starfighter. Elhon Tay intended to impress Torith with the fighter, hoping to secure a sale for use against the Rebellion. The Rebel agents, driven by the Grand Moff's past actions against the Rebel Alliance, initially considered assassinating him. They managed to restrain themselves and evade detection for the following week. Ultimately, the agents succeeded in eliminating Torith and stealing the prototype starfighter.
