The Battle of Chyron Belt was a confrontation that took place at some point by the time of the First Order-Resistance War in 34 ABY and shared its name with the Expansion Region celestial body Chyron. It saw the participation of Amilyn Holdo, who served with the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War before eventually becoming a Vice Admiral of the Resistance.
By 34 ABY, Resistance Commander Poe Dameron had heard of Holdo's role in the Battle of Chyron Belt despite not having seen the Vice Admiral in person. That year, Dameron attended a briefing aboard the Resistance cruiser Raddus in which Holdo, after being placed in command of the Resistance fleet, addressed the attending Resistance personnel. After her speech, Dameron asked his fellow pilot, C'ai Threnalli, if the unconventional Vice Admiral who had spoken was indeed the same person who had participated in the Battle of Chyron Belt. In response, Threnalli shrugged and mumbled an affirmative in the Abednedish language.
The Battle of Chyron Belt was first mentioned in the 2017 sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. In the second issue of Marvel Comics' comic adaptation of the film—which was written by Gary Whitta and published on May 23, 2018—Poe Dameron instead delivers an alternate version of the line mentioning the battle to Amilyn Holdo, with the battle's name misspelled as the "Battle of Chryon Belt." The July 10, 2018 non-canon adaptation William Shakespeare's Jedi the Last: Star Wars Part the Eighth by Ian Doescher—in which yet another version of the line is instead delivered as an aside—introduced the alternate name "Clash of Chyron Belt" for that engagement.
