Codia's second moon was a tidally locked moon of the Mid Rim Territories planet Codia I. Its darker side was covered by a vast ocean and its brighter side was rockier with massive diamond deposits. Between 44 BBY and 32 BBY, burglars destroyed the power core of a mining outpost on the brighter side of the moon, causing unusual radioactivity that suppressed the entire light spectrum at the outpost. The Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn were sent to investigate and discovered that the radiation had driven the Defel miner Rosack Denahst into a frenzy. Ultimately, they managed to repair the power core and restore the light and Denahst's sanity.
Codia's second moon was a tidally locked terrestrial moon of the planet Codia I in the Mid Rim Territories's Codia system. A "," the darker side of the moon facing away from the was covered with a vast ocean, but received from Codia I. The side facing toward the sun was bathed in light, with a rockier surface pockmarked with massive deposits of diamonds.
Between 44 BBY and 32 BBY, a mining corporation managed an outpost for mining diamonds on the brighter side of the moon. During this period, a group of burglars destroyed the fuel rod of the outpost's power core with a non-incendiary photonic charge while attempting to steal a shipment of diamonds. The photonic burst interacted with the accelerite that primarily made up the core and cause dthe release of unusual radioactivity that suppressed the entire light spectrum in and around the outpost. Rosack Denahst, a Defel miner at the outpost, was especially sensitive to the radiation, which drove him mad. Most other miners were moved safely to the outpost's barracks, but six were murdered by the burglars before Denahst slaughtered five of the thieves.
A sixth burglar escaped with fatal injuries and was encountered by the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, who had been sent to the outpost to investigate reports of the darkness. Jinn and Kenobi ultimately realized what had happened to the power core with aid from the , who had remained in the darkness. They then incapacitated Denahst and repaired the power core, although Kenobi was temporarily blinded in the process. With the radiation resolved, Denahst recovered his sanity and visited the recovering Kenobi in the outpost's medical center. Many years later in around 0 BBY, Kenobi reflected on the incident and write about it in his journals.
