Coruscant Home Fleet was the name of the defense fleet permanently assigned to protect the Republic's capital during the Clone Wars, Coruscant. Best known as the Coruscant Defense Fleet during the Imperial Period, the fleet was later part of Imperial Navy and similarly charged with the protection of the Imperial capital world.
The Coruscant Home Fleet defends the Republic capital world during the Clone Wars
During the Clone Wars, the Coruscant Home Fleet was a branch of the Grand Army of the Republic. It was composed of various military personnnel meant to protect the Coruscant system and other nearby areas. Each division of the Home Fleet was commanded by a Jedi Master of the Jedi Order. Jedi were free to reassemble units from the Corps and Sector Armies into the Home Fleet if naval maneuvers were necessary.
Following the Battle of Anaxes, war hero Terrinald Screed was promoted to Admiral and given command of the Coruscant Home Fleet. The assignment allowed him time to recover from his injuries before his reassignment to the Reconquest of the Rim.
After the fall of Humbarine, Lieutenant Barrow Oicunn served in the Coruscant Home Fleet as commander of the Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser Mas Ramdar.
During the final days of the Clone Wars, the Venator-class Star Destroyers of the Home Fleet that remained in-system played a vital role in the defense of Coruscant against General Grievous's navy during the Battle of Coruscant. A group of smaller strike forces, the Home Defense Strike Force, was hastily assembled and put in test during the battle. Home Fleet Strike Group Five, which consisted of three Carrack-class and one Dreadnaught-class cruisers, attacked the Separatist flagship Invisible Hand. Eventually, the intervention of the Open Circle Fleet, under the direct command of High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, turned the tide of the battle in a decisive Republic victory.
After the Republic was transformed into the Galactic Empire, the Coruscant Home Fleet defended the Imperial capital during the Imperial Period.
At the height of Palpatine's reign, then-lieutenant Firmus Piett requested to be transferred to the Coruscant Defense Fleet in order to avoid serving at Darth Vader's side, given Vader's notorious reputation for summarily executing any officer who failed him in any way.

The Coruscant Defense Fleet, alongside several other fleets in the Imperial Navy, were ordered to arrive at Coruscant to hear Emperor Palpatine's speech on the progress of the war.
In the years following the Battle of Endor, the Coruscant Defense Fleet was made of seven Victory-class Star Destroyers, including the Emperor's Will, the Imperator, the Monarch and the Triumph. Director Ysanne Isard reduced this number to only two in order to facilitate a New Republic invasion.
Following the Liberation of Coruscant, the New Republic also created its own Coruscant Home Fleet.
A century later, the Sith Lord Darth Krayt of the One Sith re-established a Sith controlled Empire with the Coruscant Defense Fleet being reformed and charged with its age old task of protecting the Imperial capital. During this time, Darth Krayt himself served as the Fleet's direct commander.
