The organization was founded by ex-Vigos of Alexi Garyn, the Underlord of the Black Sun, who managed to avoid the destruction of Garyn's organization by the Sith Darth Maul, in 33 BBY. The Garyn Raiders had remained fiercely loyal to their leader over the years and had banded together on Naboo's moon of Rori to base their operations.
During the Galactic Civil War, they mainly directed their operations at Imperial troops in the Naboo system, whom they harassed to avenge their fallen leader. They were also in open conflict with the Restuss Brigade. By the time of the Battle of Yavin, the Garyn Raiders were based in a bunker located a short distance northwest of the city of Narmle.
In 1 ABY, the Aqualish criminal Ponda Baba attempted to recruit some of the Garyn Raiders to supply muscle for break-ins into some of the larger cybernetic labs on Rori and Naboo. However, the amount of money he offered was ridiculous to them and they refused to work for him. The Royal Naboo Security Forces later attacked a base of the Garyn Raiders and forced them to reveal everything they knew about Ponda Baba.
