Grey Squad was a squad of nine clone troopers that served in one of the Grand Army of the Republic's platoons during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Stationed on the Outer Rim planet Mustafar towards the end of the war, Grey Squad was led by a Jedi Knight, a clone trooper sergeant, and a clone trooper corporal.
Following the activation of Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in 19 BBY, Grey Squad turned on their Jedi leader and attempted to hunt him down. The Jedi Knight managed to elude Grey Squad's search, but wrote in a datapad that it was only a matter of time until the squad caught up to him. Preparing for the squad's eventual arrival, he hid most of his personal belongings in a chest for Jedi Master Yoda to find. The datapad describing Grey Squad's actions was later found by a group of spacers among the stolen goods of a bandit camp on Mustafar around 1 ABY.
