The JR-4 Recon Droid first appeared in the Legacy of the Sith expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic as a pet. The droid, inspired by BD-1, was available as a mini-pet in celebration of the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and was gifted to players who logged in between April 28 and May 3 of that year. Some players were mistakenly given the instead, although this was later amended.
