The B1-SAL Probe Droid represents a type of cube-shaped, hovering probe droid. It saw use during the Third Galactic War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. These droids were characterized by their red plating. Each droid incorporated a photoreceptor that was distinguished by an orange ring. Furthermore, they employed a repulsorlift as their means of locomotion.
Bradley W. Lewis, a concept artist, created the design for the B1-SAL Probe Droid. This design was for the "Inspired By" Andor content integrated into BioWare's 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The design drew significant inspiration from the droid B2EMO featured in the Disney+ television show Andor. Jake Lunt Davies was the concept artist behind B2EMO, with collaborative efforts from animatronic designer Josh Lee and creature designer Neal Scanlan.
During the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor celebration login event, which took place from April 28 to May 3, 2023, some players of The Old Republic mistakenly received a B1-SAL Probe Droid minipet. The intended reward was a JR-4 Recon Droid; however, the error was subsequently corrected.
