This code, succinctly stated as "a life demands a life, with one guilty individual sufficing for their own actions, or ten innocent members of their tribe as substitute," mandated a response. The Leresai asserted that the Bothans' refusal to surrender the culpable security personnel justified their right to eliminate twenty innocent Bothans. This was executed through the destruction of a zero-gravity crystal manufacturing facility in orbit around Bothawui, which had a crew of twenty-one. General Wedge Antilles and his Rogue Squadron tried to intervene and halt the Leresai's military vessels, but their X-wings had their weapon systems compromised by Leresai agents situated on Di'tai'ni. The Leresai openly acknowledged their act of sabotage, viewing it as a commendable measure that shielded neutral New Republic forces from potential danger.
