A female married the Human male Maximilian Veers soon after the insurrection on Culroon III between 19 BBY and 9 BBY. The two only had one son, Zevulon Veers, and their family embodied Imperial propaganda ideals, as Veers was a proud major in the Imperial Army with a loyal and productive family.
Prior to the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, the family took a vacation, where Veers's wife succumbed to a rare disease. The death damaged Maximilian's sense of infallibility, and in response to the sudden loss, Maximilian buried himself in his work and told Zevulon to honor his mother's memory by joining the Imperial Military. Zevulon had an unhappy childhood afterward with his strict disciplinarian father and missed the warmth of his mother's smile.
Maximilian continued to rise to the rank of general, and after his success in defeating the Rebel Alliance at the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, he was thrust into the public eye by Imperial propaganda as an example of a widower with a loyal son destined to follow in his footsteps. Several weeks after the battle, Zevulon defected to the Alliance.
Maximilian Veers's wife was first mentioned in Dark Empire Sourcebook, a 1993 supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Michael Allen Horne.
