The collective had connections with the anti-Imperial network coordinated by the rebel agent Luthen Rael, one cell associated with Pei getting a from the network but losing it when the Empire found their safe house.
During the time of the Galactic Empire, the neo-Republican Maya Pei led a Neo-Republican Collective which became a notable rebel faction by 5 BBY. The collective had connections with the rebel agent Luthen Rael, who coordinated an anti-Imperial network which stole and traded stolen Imperial technology. One cell associated with Pei attained a from Rael's network, keeping it in a safe house. The Empire eventually found the safe house, recovering the targeting unit.
Pei's group was one of many that was disliked by Saw Gerrera, the leader of the extremist rebel group known as the Partisans. Gerrera derided Pei as a neo-Republican to Rael during one of their trade meetings in 5 BBY. Around the same time, the Empire's Imperial Security Bureau apprehended Bix Caleen, one of Rael's contact on the planet Ferrix that sold him Imperial tech. After interrogating Caleen, ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero gathered a list of Imperial gear that passed through the Ferrix, which included the targeting unit that was identified as the one eventually recovered from the safe house associated with Pei.
Maya Pei was first mentioned in "Narkina 5," the eighth episode of the first season of Tony Gilroy's live-action Disney+ series Andor, which was released on October 26, 2022.
