By 36 ABY, when Industrial Automaton was purchased by Bornaryn Trading, the droid was lying forgotten in a disused storage facility. Aryn Thul tracked down the droid and presented it to Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade as a goodwill gift. She hoped that they and slicer Zakarisz Ghent could use the OmniGate of its prototype Intellex IV droid-brain to access further holofiles of Luke's mother, Padmé Amidala, in the sequestered sector of R2-D2's memory.
