It is a time of Civil War...

Tyranny and oppression mark the reign of the Galactic Empire, threatening to extinguish the last flames of freedom. From the Outer Rim to the opulent worlds of the Core, the Emperor's iron will and his New Order crush all opposition. But in this dark time, heroes emerge—Rebels intent on restoring the glory of the Old Republic. Hope rests in this Alliance, but is that enough to overthrow pure evil?

The Book

Comprising 159 pages, this book packs a good deal of information about the era of the Galactic Civil War. Information for roleplaying is included side-by-side with a storyline during the time of Episodes IV, V, and VI.

Introduction

Starting off, there is a short synopsis of how the galaxy got into the state that it is in. The Fall of the Republic and the Rise of a New Order are described, and the twenty years between Episode III and Episode IV are briefly covered.

Chapter 1: A New Hope

As with most roleplaying games, there is a clear division of good and evil, and it is recommended that players turn to the side of good at some point, if they are not already.

The Doctrine of Fear

Tarkin's Doctrine of Fear, along with the Ultimate Battle Station are detailed as potential plot points for the Gamemaster.

Tatooine

Tatooine, though it is small, barren, and barely worthy of anyone's notice is close to several hyperspace lanes, and a number of important Galactic events have happened on the planet's surface, warranting some attention to the home of the Skywalkers.

Droids

Droids keep the universe running, to an extent, and are an ubiquitous part of Star Wars, from Protocol droids to Astromechs to Mouse droids.

The Empire

As a major player in most any campaign, the Empire and Darth Vader are detailed for use.

Keeping the Light Side Alive

Details about Episode IV heroes Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker are presented as examples of Jedi characters, with admonitions that it really isn't easy to be a Jedi or even Force-sensitive during this time, with Darth Vader hunting down every rumor of Jedi he hears.

The End of the Senate

With the end of the Imperial Senate came the end of the last vestige of democracy in the Empire, and the Rebel Alliance got into full swing.

The Death of Alderaan

The Destruction of Alderaan is provided as a potential character motivation to join the Rebellion.

Ships

Details for ships shown in Episode IV, as well as the companies that make the ships are given. There is also information about the pilots of such craft.

The Battle of Yavin

The Battle of Yavin acts as a polarizing point for the galaxy, thus is provided as another potential reason for characters to get involved with the Rebellion.

The Heroes of Yavin

Stats are given for Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca as of the end of the Battle of Yavin.
