The massive rakghoul known as "Ripclaw" dwelled on the planet Taris in the era of the Cold War. In 3643 BBY, the insane Jedi Master Cin Tykan unlocked the subterranean passages to the Republic Expeditionary Forces' base, unleashing Ripclaw and numerous other rakghouls into the installation. Nevertheless, a Jedi Consular, on a quest to thwart Tykan, made their way to the base, secured the tunnels, and purged the rakghouls from the headquarters, ultimately slaying Ripclaw.
