The Scorpenek annihilator droid was a model of fourth class droid that saw utilization during the time of the New Republic. In 9 ABY, a pair of Scorpenek droids were utilized by the Pyke Syndicate in their efforts to claim control over the planet Tatooine from Daimyo Boba Fett and his gotra. However, during an engagement within the city of Mos Espa, the droids were destroyed by Fett and his allies.
A fourth class model droid, Scorpenek annihilator droids were similar in design to the droideka model of battle droid utilized during the Clone Wars by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Situated on the droid's frontward sections of its gray-colored plating, the Scorpenek droid retained a pair of red-lighted photoreceptors alongside two swiveling arms extending from both sides of the droid's frame. The droid was armed with two dual twin laser cannons mounted on either arm, as well as four legs capable of piercing the armored hide of rancors and being used to engage targets, either when its weapon systems were inoperable or when it was unable to engage with its weaponry. An articulation pin at the leg helped keep the leg moveable.
Alongside its armament, the Scorpenek droid was also equipped with a personalized deflector shield generator. The shield, which enclosed the droid within, was capable of deflecting a series of repeated high velocity blaster bolts, physical projectiles, multiple strikes from a lightsaber, and missiles from Z-6 jetpacks. However, through consistent strikes from beings such as rancors or heavy debris, the shield was able to breached to the point where an individual was capable of passing through the barrier and destroy the droid.
In 9 ABY, the Pyke Syndicate deployed two Scorpenek droids to the city of Mos Espa on Tatooine, in order to reinforce their mounted offensive against the defending Fett gotra, who refused to accept their fledgling spice operations, on the planet. During the engagement, the gotra's forces were spread thin across the three sectors of the city, turning the tide, within the Pyke Syndicate's favor. However, the arrival of the inhabitants of Freetown and subsequently the Mods substantially bolstering Fett's numbers, the initial wave of Pyke fighters were forced to momentarily retreat to cover. The defending combatants cheered, until a weary Din Djarin activated his helmet's thermal vision and swiftly spotted two of these droid units gradually approaching.
With the Pyke soldiers behind cover, the combat droids revealed themselves and had begun to travel slowly towards the defenders' position. After having raised their deflector shields, the units were able to absorb every incoming blaster bolt, along with a direct hit from a missile, whilst firing their own laser cannons in response. The relentless firepower from the droids forced the majority of the defenders to retreat, soon obliterating the armored speeder. Boba Fett then decided to remain behind with Djarin in an attempt to slow the advance.
Djarin and Fett attempted to damage the Scorpenek droids themselves, dodging the laser fire with their Z-6 jetpacks, accompanied with the utilization of a flamethrower by Djarin and sustained blaster fire by Fett. After flying over one of the droids, Djarin ignited the Darksaber and attempted to penetrate the energy shield by slashing and striking at it, though the droid's shield repulsed every attempt. They both evaded further laser cannon fire, before conversing to each other on the severe threat the droids posed to Mos Espa, and the capabilities of their shields. Fett then darted upward using his jetpack, with the droid turning and firing at him. Fett then commanded Djarin to protect the bulk of the forces, and proceeded to fly away. One Scorpenek droid had drifted away from Djarin, pursuing the retreating forces, whilst Djarin persisted to fire at the other, providing a sufficient distraction to focus its attention onto him.
