Skywalker became the designation for an Acclamator-class assault ship following its acquisition by the Alliance to Restore the Republic through capture.
This Acclamator-class assault ship, which would later be known as Skywalker, was utilized by the Galactic Empire throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War. Approximately eight months following the Battle of Yavin, it was employed to transport Jabiimi Loyalist prisoners to the planet Kalist VI, where they were forced into slave labor. The ship remained docked at that location until Luke Skywalker commandeered it during a Rebel mission aimed at rescuing the captured Rebel mathematician Jorin Sol, an operation that also led to the freedom of the enslaved individuals. Following this, Skywalker and the freed slaves seized control of the vessel, making their escape under the protection of Wedge Antilles and the pilots of Red Squadron. In immediate subsequent communication transmissions, the ship was rechristened Skywalker in honor of the one who captured it. Skywalker then piloted Skywalker back to the Alliance Fleet, carrying the liberated slaves, Sol, and the members of the infiltration squad.
