Sneak attack by the FateSpinner

In 18 BBY, the Grysk agent known as "Jixtus" dispatched his flagship, the Shatter-class WarMaster FateSpinner, to the Chiss Ascendancy's Ornfra system as part of a sneak attack on the Clarr light cruiser Orisson of the Chiss Clarr family. Jixtus sought to eliminate the Orissons commander, Captain Clarr'os'culry, core name "Roscu," as she had learnt of a group of Grysk warships that Jixtus had given to Clarr Patriarch Clarr'ivl'exow "Rivlex."

Once the Orisson arrived in the Ornfra system, pointing directly at the planet Ornfra, the FateSpinner moved to attack, firing its spectrum lasers as Roscu noticed that it was a Grysk warship that had attacked her vessel. The captain then had her pilot quickly bring the Orisson to hyperspace, escaping the FateSpinners attack.

Jixtus sent his FateSpinner to the Chiss Ascendancy's Ornfra system

In 18 BBY, during a crisis in the Unknown Regions Chiss Ascendancy instigated by the joint efforts of the Grysk operative known as "Jixtus" and his ally, Generalirius Nakirre of the Kilji Illumine, the nation of the Kilji species, Jixtus allied himself with the Chiss Patriarch of the Ascendancy's Clarr family, Clarr'ivl'exow, core name "Rivlex." The Grysk gave him several Grysk warships that were part of his own fleet and sent them to the Rhigar system, where he and Rivlex hid them in the Junkard asteroid cluster. Meanwhile, the Clarr Patriarch sent Captain Clarr'os'culry "Roscu," commander of the Clarr light cruiser Orisson, to the Ascendancy's Ornfra system.

At Ornfra, the Grysks attempted to use an asteroid missile platform to destroy the Orisson while several Chiss Dasklo family destroyers were nearby, making it seem like the Dasklo had attacked the Clarr; however, the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet Chiss heavy cruiser Grayshrike was able to destroy the platform. The Orisson then returned to the Rhigar system, where Roscu discovered Jixtus's vessels and Rivlex sent her back to Ornfra to prove that the Dasklo were, according to Jixtus, building a massive fleet. Meanwhile, a Grysk commander told Jixtus of Roscu's discovery, prompting him to task his flagship, the Shatter-class WarMaster FateSpinner, with the Chiss captain's murder.

The attack

Once the Orisson arrived in the Ornfra system, pointing directly at the planet Ornfra, the FateSpinner began its attack with its spectrum lasers. Roscu's first officer, Raamas, intended to hail the ship, which he did not know was Grysk, but his command to do so was belayed by his superior. Roscu then had her pilot prepare the Orisson for hyperspace and flutter the main starboard thrusters twice before shutting them down, creating an imbalance that moved the warship to starboard, while countering it with the full activation of the starboard–bow maneuvering jets. With this maneuver, the Clarr were able to fool the FateSpinner into preparing for a shot at the Orissons starboard while they moved to portside, escaping into hyperspace.

Aftermath

While the Grysks did not kill Roscu, they damaged the Orissons starboard and warped three of the light cruiser's aft hull plates. Shortly after the sneak attack by the FateSpinner, the Orisson participated in Senior Captain Thrawn's last stand, where a fleet of Chiss vessels destroyed Jixtus's flagship and the rest of his fleet. As Roscu survived the battle and the earlier Grysks attempts on her life, the inhabitants of the Ascendancy's planet Rhigar nicknamed her "The One They Could not Kill."
