In the year 3643 BBY, Tharan Cedrax, an expert in exo-technology, was on Nar Shaddaa when he invented a prototype weapon. Initially, he attempted to broker a sale of this weapon to a band of Nikto. However, upon discovering that these Nikto were affiliated with the Guiding Hand syndicate, which was actively conducting raids targeting Hutt-controlled territories, Cedrax backed out of the agreement. His apprehension stemmed from fear of potential retaliation from the Hutts. Subsequently, Cedrax entrusted the weapon to the Jedi Consular, who was endeavoring to infiltrate the Guiding Hand. The Jedi then leveraged the weapon to demonstrate their technical capabilities to the Red Light Lancers tech gang, an affiliate of the Guiding Hand.
