Twirrling

Originating on Naboo, twirrling was the name given to the sport practiced by nobles throughout the galaxy. Participants in the hunt, riding domesticated gualamas, used trained twirrls to seek out and recover prey, which included a variety of small mammals and waterfowl.

One of Naboo's Queens following the rise of the New Republic participated in this activity while utilizing her own private herd.

The concept of aristocracy using birds of prey for hunting is very similar to the real life practice of Falconry, which uses birds such as falcons and hawks to hunt small game. Though practiced in various forms throughout the world, falconry was an extremely popular sport with nobles in medieval Europe.
