Unidentified Naboo town

Description

A trading town loyal to the Royal House of Naboo was located on the planet Naboo. It was positioned on the edge of a bay opposite the city Spinnaker, which would send Royal trade ships to collect valuable nova crystals from the town. The town itself had a rectangular shape with another square section jutting out to the southwest over the water. The surface of the town was paved with bricks and the edges were covered with guardrails. The town was accessible by water from the southwest, with the entrance consisting of an open archway guarded by a turret. The northeast portion of the town was bordered by prefab shelters, with two spaceports in the middle section and a power core in between them. A turret and a sentry post were adjacent to each of the spaceports. During the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation built a prison camp, Camp 14, besides the town on its northeastern side.

History

In 32 BBY, when the invaded Naboo, the company attacked Spinnaker for its stockpiles of nova crystals. Afterward, the B1-Series battle droid OOM-9 targeted the town to the northeast, loading an energy pummel into a transport and sent it to the town. The pummel destroyed the turrets, allowing the Trade Federation to send Neimoidian traders to collect nova crystals from the town's spaceports.

Behind the scenes

The Naboo town was created for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released on November 11, 2001. Prior to its appearance in the game, the base was first mentioned in Prima Games' accompanying strategy guide by Steven L. Kent, released four days earlier. An image included in the Prima Games guide shows the town without the guardrails that are present in the game.

The town first appears in the third level of the Trade Federation campaign, "Spinnaker's Spoils," in which it appears as an enemy team labelled "Naboo Traders." The player can trade for nova crystals at the town's spaceports if they clear out its defenses, a path recommended by the strategy guide.
