Whaladons, distinguished by their melancholic vocalizations, inhabited the world of Mon Cala, a planet of the galaxy. One such whaladon was held as a prisoner on Mon Cala during the time of the Imperial Era.
This whaladon was eventually liberated by someone, which resulted in them gaining support from the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and simultaneously, gaining the disapproval of the Galactic Empire.
Within the current Star Wars canon, a whaladon made an appearance on a card within the Star Wars: Outer Rim board game, released in 2019 by Fantasy Flight Games. The concept of Whaladons originated as a sentient species within the Star Wars Legends continuity, initially referenced in A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, Second Edition, Revised and Expanded in 1994. This book was authored by Bill Slavicsek.
