(See the 2022 edition here!)
Hello all, and welcome to the 2023 edition of Wookieepedia Status Article Nomination Awards! Those who witnessed the inaugural edition of this event last year know it celebrates the quantitative achievements of Wookieepedians in our site's status article nominations (SAN) system—which includes the Featured, Good, and Comprehensive article nominations processes.
The way the Status Article Nomination Awards work is through us, NBDani and Imperators II, collecting the data on the status article nominations of the year 2023 via magnificent help from LucaRoR in scraping the source code of archived nomination pages. Imperators then converts said code into usable data that can be managed on a spreadsheet, after which Dani uses their uncanny spreadsheet wizardry skills to create and maintain a dynamic system that takes input data on nominations and in return gives us statistical data of the most various sorts on the nominators' contributions. "Input data on nominations" here refers to the aforementioned scraping of source code as well as the careful monitoring of both the SAN archiving process and the management of the status article portfolios of WookieeProjects.
2023 was a huge year for the SAN, as we saw the number of allowed simultaneous Comprehensive and Good nominations raised from four to six, which is reflected in the increase of 2023's passed articles compared to 2022. And as before, these new heights could not have been reached without the massive help of our beloved SAN archivist bot JocastaBot (managed by Cade Calrayn) and the selfless, tireless work of our SA review panelmembers and other reviewers of the nominations, so thank you all!
Technical note
Similarly to last year, an important factor that had to be considered was that nominators who are not part of the AgriCorps and Inquisitorius status article review panels are limited to only having six active Good article nominations and four active Featured article nominations at the same time, respectively. That means that any competition in the quantity of status articles promoted between ACs/Inqs and non-ACs/non-Inqs is prone to running into issues related to objective comparison, so we had to separate these two groups of users early on when determining the most productive nominators.
For the purposes of practicality, however, users promoted to membership of the review panels during the year in question (for example, Lewisr became an Inq in mid-2023) were counted as panel members for that entire year instead of their contributions being separated into two parts. In addition, any users who are blocked at this time were also disqualified from the competition. For the record, the data that is used in this year's SAN Awards is up-to-date through January 10, 2024.
*The nominators who placed first (bolded in the tables below) in their respective categories also get corresponding fun talk page award messages!

WookieeProjects aim toward facilitating collaboration between editors (among them, status article nominators) interested in working on articles related to specific domains of Star Wars, be it either interrelated groups of in-universe subjects or specific categories of real-world Star Wars media or other subjects. The status article nomination system allows nominators to denote any WookieeProjects their nomination may fall within the scope of.

Total first-place count
This year, the total number of first-place awards is 336.
"Most Valuable Nominator"
Just for fun :P we've also determined our two "Most Valuable Nominators" (MVN), which is a meta-award for ranking high in the above awards lists.
Every placement above is taken to have a corresponding point value: each third-place is worth 1 point, second-places give 2 points each, and 3 points are awarded for each first-place. In addition, the award for the Longest article is worth an additional 1 point.
This year, our MVNs are AmazinglyCool (112 points) from among non-Inqs/ACs and Imperators II (259 points) from among the panel members.
Nomination supporting the most WookieeProjects
There was one status article nomination this year, by Braha'tok enthusiast, that was affiliated with a total of 10 WookieeProjects:
- — Ambition; Astrography; Battlefront; Comics; Fantasy Flight Games; Novels; Star Wars: Card Trader; The Clone Wars; The High Republic; Video Games
Most SA-heavy dates
The following dates of 2023 saw the highest numbers of new status articles added to Wookieepedia's SA collection. Note that in 2022 the highest numbers of CAs and SAs overall, and of FAs, were respectively in August and in the middle of March too. It's almost... spooky.
Interested in seeing the data for your own status article nominations? To allow nominators to review their numbers in full, we have created this tool. In order to access it (and let others do so at the same time!), please follow the link and then in the top menu of the Google Sheets spreadsheet that appears click .
In the spreadsheet, you can type in your Wookieepedia username in the yellow cell and the year the data for which you wish to review in the yellow cell . If you leave the username field blank, the tool shows the total data for all nominators that year. Please note that now the tool incorporates data from all years up to 2023, although data from before 2022 may be incomplete.
