A-Zulmun

A-Zulmun functioned as the chieftain of a Tusken Raider tribe, and is known for having killed Ranon Djelkh.

Life Story

The Tusken Raider tribe depended on a concealed water source within a grotto, accessed through a cave. However, when a starship crashed near the Dune Sea, it blocked the cave's entrance. In an attempt to dislodge the vessel, the tribe employed Banthas, inadvertently freeing a subterranean Mole serpent that had been trapped. During the ensuing conflict with the creature, A-Zulmun sustained significant injuries. He managed to survive by forcing his rifle into the serpent's jaws, a fate that befell other Tusken Raiders who were consumed by the beast. Later, some of the remaining tribe members noticed the story's protagonists and considered them as potential sources of water, perhaps even more so than the Jawa nearby. A-Zulmun, seeing a chance for a warrior's death, bravely crawled into the fray, despite his wounds, to confront his adversaries.

After the protagonists aided in mending his wounds, A-Zulmun shared information regarding the starship that had crashed near the cave's opening. He explained that it was approximately half a day's journey away and offered the use of the Banthas brought by his fellow tribe members for transportation. Approaching the crash site, A-Zulmun cautioned the protagonists that the Banthas' movements were likely to attract the mole serpent. If communication proved difficult, A-Zulmun dismounted his Bantha and gestured for the others to do the same. Should the protagonists disregard his warning, A-Zulmun would follow them at a distance of 50 meters behind the Banthas they rode.

The mole serpent then appeared, and after an extended battle with the creature, Ranon Djelkh arrived in a skiff and tried to stop them. Witnessing this, A-Zulmun retrieved a slugthrower rifle from a fallen Tusken Raider and made his way to a high vantage point where he had a clear shot at Ranon. Upon reaching the vantage point, he began firing at Ranon until Ranon was either killed by the players or by A-Zulmun's shots. With the mole serpent defeated and Ranon eliminated, A-Zulmun ascended the shipwreck and denied access to the grotto to everyone, including the players who had assisted him.

Character Traits

His deep-seated mistrust of outsiders stemmed from the Tusken Raider belief that all other races posed a threat. A-Zulmun's highest priority was always the welfare of his tribe. Furthermore, he held a strong preference for a warrior's death over a cowardly one. He was only fluent in the Tusken language, lacking the ability to speak Basic.

Possessions

Initially, he wielded a Gaderffii, which was ultimately destroyed when he lodged it in the mole serpent's mouth. He wore traditional desert robes and, like most Tusken Raiders, possessed his own Bantha.

Behind the Curtain

He is featured as a non-player character within the Secrets of Tatooine sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.

Alternative Scenario #1

If the players chose not to heal A-Zulmun, his lack of assistance would be noticeable. Still suffering from his injuries, A-Zulmun would be too slow to reach a suitable vantage point. Consequently, the players would defeat Ranon, and A-Zulmun would miss his chance to do so. Even after Ranon's defeat, A-Zulmun would continue to guard the cave entrance against all, including the players.

Alternative Scenario #2

If the players chose to kill A-Zulmun, they would inadvertently grant him his wish for a death in battle.
