Action VI bulk transport

The Action VI bulk transport, also known as the bulk transport or the modified action transport, was a frequently used freighter manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation.

Characteristics

Action VI transports in a convoy

Action VI transports were generally used in convoys or within well-defended regions of space. Due to their lack of even basic defensive capabilities, like armor and weapons, they were frequently attractive targets for space pirates and therefore depended on protection from other capital ships and escorting starfighters. The Galactic Empire utilized them solely because they were relatively cheap compared to the Empire's vast wealth. One such vessel once crashed on Blenjeel after encountering an Immobilizer 418 cruiser.

History

The Rebel Alliance also made use of these cargo ships, primarily as troop carriers, but in significantly fewer numbers because they were considerably more expensive than GR-75 medium transports. The majority of Action VI ships employed by the Rebellion were acquired through theft from the Empire.

Pirates often altered Action VI vessels into "interceptor frigates" with the ability to engage corvettes in combat. The most well-known Action VI was the Wild Karrde, the personal starship belonging to smuggler Talon Karrde.

Behind the scenes

An Action VI transport made an appearance in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.
