Farghul, the droid's creators, engineered it specifically to counter the growing presence of lightsaber-wielding Sith throughout the galaxy.
What set the Aggressor-series battle droid apart was its exclusive reliance on a dire vibroblade as its main weapon, foregoing any ranged weaponry. Their focus on close-quarters combat resulted in them being a surprising and unconventional adversary in battle. Although their rudimentary combat algorithms limited their effectiveness against the Sith, Farrfin Droidworks had plans to deploy a concealed software patch. This update would substitute their basic programming with advanced combat routines, transforming the droids into a formidable and pervasive danger to the Sith.
Darth Krayt employed numerous Aggressor-series battle droids to serve as training units for his Sith apprentices.
