Ahrens, whose callsign was Blade Three, served as an Imperial pilot. He belonged to Blade Flight, a starfighter squadron equipped with Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighters and integrated into the 77th Air Wing. As part of the Western Reaches Operation in 17 BBY, the 77th Air Wing was dispatched to the planet Kelrodo-Ai with the mission to drive the remaining Confederacy of Independent Systems holdout forces from the planet. During an attack targeting the Citadel of Axes, a fortress controlled by the Confederacy, Ahrens met his death when his fighter was struck by a shot originating from a Separatist anti-capital ship weapon.
