The akonije trees originated from the world of Thyferra, a planet. These trees had grown to penetrate the roof of the primary structure of the Xucphra City spaceport. During the Bacta War, Iella Wessiri took cover next to the base of an akonije tree while en route to the Raid on the Dlarit estate.
