Tudyk, in his role as the enforcer droid K-2SO, was originally slated for a cameo as "Wray Nerely" from his webseries, Con Man. This scene, however, was ultimately removed. In Con Man, Wray Nerely is depicted as a struggling and typecast science-fiction actor experiencing a streak of bad luck. The intended scene would have featured Tudyk, an actor, playing another actor who had been cast in Rogue One. Following the announcement of the scene's removal, Tudyk commented, "I was really looking forward to seeing Wray Nerely in Star Wars, but truthfully Wray Nerely would never get that good of a job. So it was probably pretty good that he didn't." Initially, it was announced that Tudyk would embody K-2SO in Andor, but he later clarified that he would not be in the initial season, but would appear in later seasons.
