Tales from Wild Space: Adventures in Wookiee-Sitting

While traveling through Wild Space aboard the Star Herald, CR-8R, known as "Crater," and BB-00, nicknamed "Boo," were engaged in a game of Dejarik. Crater informed Boo that he would be unable to defeat him, suggesting it was due to limitations in Boo's programming. Emil Graf disagreed, asking Crater to pause for a moment. He explained to Boo that despite the apparent constraints of programming, sometimes it is best to adapt to the situation, which reminded him of a relevant story.

Many decades prior, Cassian Andor and his droid partner, K-2SO, were conducting a raid on an Imperial freighter. Cassian deployed gas to give the impression to the Galactic Empire that smugglers, rather than members of the Rebel Alliance, were responsible for the theft. K2 considered this Cassian's worst plan to date. The Rebel Army required the stolen goods, and both were taken aback to discover the supplies consisted of three Wookiees. Acknowledging the danger of bringing the young Wookiees on an upcoming raid, Cassian and K2 journeyed to the moon called Charissia. Cassian tasked K-2SO with supervising the Wookiees while he proceeded with the raid. Cassian assured K2 he would return by sunrise before departing.

K2 attempted to feed the Wookiees a nutritional mixture he had prepared. However, the Wookiees refused to consume it. He attempted to convince the Wookiees by explaining that it would make them large and powerful as a group of large, grey creatures appeared in their vicinity. The Wookiees fled as the creatures passed by, with one of them trampling K-2SO. One of the Wookiees, D'Koetaa, used a black vine to pull K2 out of harm's way. The other Wookiees, D'Lylaa and Wyhyatt, were riding on the creatures, much to K2's astonishment. K2 then mounted one of the creatures and rode with the Wookiees to a pond.

The following day, Cassian returned from the raid and called for K-2SO and the Wookiees. Cassian confirmed to K2 that the raid had been successful, and K2 responded that he was correct in his earlier assertion that everyone liked him. K-2SO informed Cassian that he was too delicate and ill-equipped for the demanding task of "Wookiee-sitting."

Returning to the Star Herald, Emil Graf explained to Crater that individuals can be unaware of their own capabilities and that victory encompasses more than just programming. However, Crater remained convinced of his impending win.
