Alaris existed as a planet situated within the Kashyyyk system of the Mytaranor sector, located in the Mid Rim region of the galaxy. The moon known as Alaris Prime, which orbited Alaris, served as a settlement for a Wookiees colony originating from the nearby world of Kashyyyk.
The initial reference to Alaris within the new Star Wars canon occurred in Collapse of the Republic, a 2019 expansion for the Star Wars Roleplaying product line created by Fantasy Flight Games. Prior to this, the planet made its debut in the real-time strategy game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by LucasArts back in 2001.
