Auka's mother, who was a Lanai of female gender, lived on the planet Ahch-To and was the predecessor to Alcida-Auka as matron of the Caretakers. Before the Battle of Crait took place, the Lanai had been the Caretakers' matron, and she later relinquished that title and the duties that came with it to Auka.
