The Alsakan Conflicts comprised multiple engagements and marked the initial use of capital ships comparable in size to those later seen in the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. The development of advanced turbolasers capable of penetrating ray shields brought this "dreadnought era" to a close, effectively making large warships outdated. These conflicts took their designation from Alsakan, a celestial body situated within the Core Worlds.
Within the current Star Wars canon, the Alsakan Conflicts received their inaugural mention in the reference work Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy, released in 2021. The conflicts were initially established within the Star Wars Legends narrative, first appearing in Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook. This 1993 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game was authored by Michael Allen Horne and brought to publication by West End Games.
