Alsakan was the birthplace and educational ground for Enric Pryde, a human, in 27 BBY. Following the rise to power of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, Alsakan became a staunch supporter. The Alsakan Academy was already in operation by this time. Despite the fact that the Imperial Academy's instructors were known to have tendencies that were outdated by common practices at the time, Major Urkhaste's lessons were legendary. Pryde gained advanced placement at the Alsakan Academy by 11 BBY, which led to a career as an officer in the Imperial Military and, eventually, the First Order.
The Inquisitor Third Sister was hunting Force-sensitives on Alsakan by 9 BBY. The "Alsakan Imperial Academy" had a section in the Imperial Archives, which included the file "Lecture Series—Principles and Precepts of Defensive Fortifications," which covered Urkhaste's lectures. Beaumont Kin, a historian, briefly wrote about the Alsakan Academy in his book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire (35 ABY), after reading the file.
Doctor Cornelius Evazan, a human who became infamous for his gruesome surgical experiments, called Alsakan his homeworld. Alsakan culture had military riding customs that involved the use of swaggersticks.
Alsakan was first mentioned in Ultimate Star Wars, a 2015 reference book written by Patricia Barr, Adam Bray, Daniel Wallace, and Ryder Windham in the new Star Wars canon. It was initially conceived for the Dark Empire Sourcebook, a Star Wars Legends sourcebook written by Michael Allen Horne for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game and released in 1993.
