Altah served as a handmaiden to Kylantha, the Queen of Naboo, during the Galactic Civil War; she was female. Following the Battle of Yavin which occurred in 0 BBY, at some point, Palpatine, the Emperor, instructed a loyalist of the Galactic Empire to safely take the handmaiden to the Emperor's Retreat so that Palpatine could offer her an "apology" during that time.
Altah appeared as a non-player character in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game from 2003 that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment, published by LucasArts, and shut down on December 15, 2011; it was a video game. While the Legends continuity does not explicitly state Altah's species, the quest dialogue identifies her as a female character, making that canonical. Furthermore, the quest dialogue refers to her as Altah, but examining the character in-game simply identifies her as a "Royal Handmaiden."
