Altair 9
Altair 9, situated within the Altair system of the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet characterized by its murky and swampy terrain.
History
During the era of the Galactic War, specifically around the start of the Revanite crisis, Altair 9 experienced an attack from forces of the Galactic Republic. After enduring a siege that lasted ten months, Klemark, the planet's capital city, was at last liberated from the dominion of the Imperial forces. Subsequently, the Republic provided much-needed sustenance and aid to the inhabitants of the planet, who had suffered for an extended period.
By the time the Clone Wars had begun, the planet, which was located near the border of space under the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, became the site of a minor skirmish involving the Republic and the Separatists. While fighting on the ground against the Separatist Droid Army, ARC Trooper Alpha-98 was set upon by a broca.
Behind the scenes
Altair is the designation of a prominent star within Earth's own galaxy. The utilization of this name in the Star Wars universe bears resemblance to the allusions made to Rigel VII. However, the convention of using Arabic numerals instead of Roman numerals in the source material – specifically, "Altair 9" rather than "Altair IX" – implies that Altair 9 may be the ninth moon orbiting a gas giant named Altair, as opposed to being the ninth planet circling a star bearing that name.
