The Revanite crisis marked a significant period of conflict in 3637 BBY during the ongoing Galactic War. The Order of Revan sought to establish dominance across the galaxy by undermining both Republic and Imperial forces. This scheme was masterminded by the order's leader, Revan, a former Sith Lord, who aimed to eliminate the two major galactic powers. His ultimate goal was to resurrect the former Sith Emperor Vitiate and destroy him permanently without any external interference.
Amidst the continuing Galactic War, operatives of the Galactic Republic received information from Republic Strategic Information Service agent Theron Shan and his superior, Colonel Rian Darok, regarding a planned assault on the Sith Academy on Korriban. Despite encountering significant resistance, the mission was largely successful, but the Sith quickly reinforced the academy, forcing the Republic strike team to withdraw.
In a parallel operation, unbeknownst to SIS, Darth Arkous of the Dark Council launched his own attack on Tython, the Jedi homeworld. His objective was to steal crucial data from the Jedi Archives while inflicting as much damage as possible.
The Sith initiated their assault using weapons derived from the Isotope-5 technology obtained on Makeb. After overcoming Jedi defenses and killing instructor Liam Dentiri and Jedi Council member Master Oric Traless, they secured the desired information. However, the Republic strike force that had attacked Korriban soon arrived, repelling the Sith forces.
Following these engagements, Lana Beniko, Darth Arkous' apprentice, journeyed to Manaan to investigate her master, who was allegedly involved in a broader conspiracy related to the attacks. There, she encountered Theron Shan, who was also seeking answers connected to Colonel Darok. Recognizing the potential for greater success through collaboration, they formed an alliance. Their joint investigation revealed that the data thefts were linked to artifacts of the Rakata, an ancient race that once dominated the galaxy. They discovered that both Arkous and Darok, working together, were responsible for these thefts.
Continuing their partnership on Manaan, a world formerly ruled by the Rakata, they enlisted the aid of "The Commander," a renowned veteran of the Galactic War who had participated in the battles on both Korriban and Tython. The Outlander led a clandestine operation against a secret laboratory overseen by Gorima, a Selkath scientist. After liberating the Wookiee smuggler Jakarro and his droid C2-D4, the team located Gorima, who confessed that he was employed by both Arkous and Darok. They had instructed him to create a new Infinite Army. Although the Outlander's team destroyed the facility, the two traitors managed to steal the research data before their confrontation with Gorima.
The traitors were revealed to be high-ranking members of the Order of Revan, an Imperial organization dedicated to the teachings of the deceased Revan. The pursuit led to Rakata Prime, the former capital of the Infinite Empire and the site of the final battle of the Jedi Civil War three centuries earlier. This battle resulted in the destruction of the ancient superweapon known as "the Star Forge," leaving behind a field of debris orbiting the planet.

The Outlander received a small strike force to infiltrate the Temple of the Ancients on the planet's surface, which Arkous and Darok had established as their headquarters. Utilizing Gorima's research, the traitors had successfully bred a small army of Rakata technology-enhanced soldiers from the ancient Rakatan species, augmenting their already substantial forces.
Upon reaching the temple's summit, the Outlander's forces engaged the combined forces of Arkous and Darok, ultimately achieving victory. However, their triumph was short-lived as a small fleet of warships, constructed using both Republic and Imperial designs, emerged from hyperspace and entered low orbit. A man claiming to be Revan projected a large image of himself, informing the strike team that the loss of Arkous and Darok was merely a minor setback and that an "infinite army" was not essential for his ultimate plans. After ending the transmission, Revan ordered the temple to be bombarded, but the Outlander and their team managed to escape the structure's destruction just in time.
Following the disastrous events on Rakata Prime, the fragile alliance dissolved, strained by the Imperial and Republic governments' failure to fully grasp the gravity of the situation. Lana Beniko, believing herself responsible for the death of Darth Arkous, a high-ranking Imperial official, was issued an arrest warrant. Theron Shan, for his alleged involvement in Darok's demise, was disavowed by the SIS and labeled a traitor by the Republic, forcing him and Beniko to go into hiding. The Outlander and the rest of the strike team, not directly implicated, went their separate ways despite the growing Revanite threat.
Some months later, the members of the strike team that had assembled on Rakata Prime, including the Outlander, discovered that coordinates leading to the enigmatic world of Rishi had been entered into their respective navicomps. Driven by their own motivations, they all traveled to the planet.
Upon arrival, they independently determined that Shan and Beniko had entered the coordinates, prompting them to search for their location on Rishi. Unbeknownst to them, the Revanites had also established a presence on the world and had hired the local Nova Blade pirates to disrupt shipping in the region, significantly altering established shipping routes.

Faced with limited options, the Outlander and their allies decided to seek assistance from the local clan of Mandalorians, who were also struggling against the Revanites on Rishi. Despite initial skepticism about the operatives' intentions, the Mandalorian leader Shae Vizla, known as "Torch," agreed to aid the heroes in combating the Revanites, providing intelligence that the group had secretly amassed its own forces on the planet's surface.
During an infiltration of the Revanite hideout, Theron Shan was captured and tortured by Revan, who was also revealed to be his direct ancestor. The Outlander successfully rescued the agent, who disclosed that the Revanites were attempting to lure both the Imperial and Republic fleets to Rishi to concentrate them in one location. With the fleets engaged in a massive battle above Rishi, Revan had placed saboteurs on every vessel, intending to have both fleets destroy each other. This would weaken the military strength of both factions, clearing the way for him to resurrect the Sith Emperor and destroy him in his physical form without opposition.

Despite Revan's initial doubts, the Revanite plot nearly succeeded. However, Shan's information allowed the operatives to identify the traitors within both fleets. A strike force swiftly moved to destroy the signal jammer that was preventing communication to and from the planet, as well as between Republic and Imperial forces. This proved successful, and despite significant casualties, a ceasefire was negotiated between Republic commander Satele Shan and the Empire's new leader Darth Marr, both of whom had personally arrived to oversee what would have been a major turning point in the war. After meeting on the planet's surface, Darth Marr and Satele Shan decided to collaborate with the anti-Revanite group, now jointly led by Beniko, Shan, and the Outlander.
At a subsequent summit, the commanders concluded that the Revanites posed a far greater threat than previously understood and that Revan's manipulation had nearly led to the destruction of both the Republic and the Empire. Furthermore, Marr was finally informed that Emperor Vitiate, believed to have been killed four years later by a Jedi Knight, was still alive, albeit in a weakened, incorporeal state.
Faced with the terrifying prospect of a revived Emperor returning to consume the galaxy, both the Republic and the Empire agreed to form a joint coalition to confront the deranged former Jedi and thwart his plans.

Tracking Revan to the moon of Yavin 4, the coalition established a small base camp near the Order of Revan's position. From there, Satele Shan, Darth Marr, Theron Shan, and Lana Beniko coordinated the allied forces in a series of attacks against the Revanites, while the Outlander led the troops in the field.
The initial alliance was fragile, as soldiers from both the Empire and the Republic distrusted each other. This distrust led to espionage and further hostility, diverting resources from the fight against the growing Revanite threat.

Imperial and Republic platoons encountered each other on the battlefield, nearly engaging in open conflict. However, after the discovery of Commandant [Iven], a former Imperial Guard pledged to the Revanites, in the area, both factions agreed to capture him and return him to the alliance camp for interrogation. Iven revealed that the Revanites were using an ancient facility known as the Temple of Sacrifice as a base and that Revan controlled an ancient artifact capable of resurrecting the Sith Emperor.

Despite the escalating conflict between the Revanites and the Coalition, both Satele Shan and Darth Marr detected a significant light side energy on the moon. While fighting Revanite forces, the Outlander encountered a Force ghost that appeared to be a serene Revan. This Revan revealed that the events on the Foundry had split his self into two halves, representing his light and dark side energies. His light half could become one with the Force but was unable to do so without his darker counterpart, who still existed in physical form and was the "Revan" responsible for attempting to resurrect Vitiate. This revelation prompted the Outlander to return to the base camp and organize a final assault against the Revanites with the strike force, aiming to end Revan's plans once and for all.

The coalition mobilized its forces and prepared to attack the Temple of Sacrifice, where Revan had already begun the ritual. After battling through waves of Revanites, the strike team finally confronted the former Sith Lord, engaging him in direct combat. Despite their combined efforts, Revan was ultimately defeated. However, as they believed they had stopped him, the voice of Vitiate echoed from above the temple, mocking Revan and revealing that the entire conflict had been a scheme to restore him to physical form and that Revan was merely a pawn in a larger plan before vanishing into the night. Vitiate had regained strength and once again threatened the galaxy.
Disheartened and realizing he had been deceived, the dark half of Revan, after being confronted by his ghostly counterpart, finally agreed to merge with him to become one with the Force. Whole and in perfect balance, the spirit of Revan finally passed on, leaving behind only his mask.

Despite their victory, it was acknowledged that Vitiate's return posed the most significant threat the galaxy would face in the near future. However, the Republic and the Empire remained at war, making it difficult to persuade both governments to cease hostilities entirely. Nevertheless, Marr and Shan reached a mutual agreement: if Vitiate were to return and attack, they would be ready to reestablish their alliance. For the time being, they mutually agreed to dissolve the coalition. Small pockets of Revanites remained, prompting both factions to leave small garrisons on the moon to monitor their activities. With the Revanite threat neutralized, the Imperial and Republic fleets departed the system, prepared to resume their war.
