Biography

Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, United States on August 3, Andy Schmidt, who is also known as Peter Andrewes Schmidt, would grow up to be an author and editor. His work for the Star Wars franchise involves authoring short stories that have been compiled into children's anthologies. He has expressed that writing these stories was particularly enjoyable because his children were at an age where they could appreciate them. Schmidt's initial contributions included "A Bad Feeling About This" and "AT-AT Attack!," which are adaptations of events from the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, respectively. These stories were both featured in The Original Trilogy Stories, which was released on September 1, 2015. Later that same year, on December 18, Schmidt's third story, titled "A Jedi, You Must Become," which also adapts events from The Empire Strikes Back, was included in the anthology 5-Minute Star Wars Stories.

A sequel to The Original Trilogy Stories called The Prequel Trilogy Stories was released on September 26, 2017. This anthology features three stories written by Schmidt. The first of these, "Short Negotiations," is an adaptation of the opening scenes from the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The second story, "Ambushed!," adapts a sequence from the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Schmidt's last story in the anthology, "Empire Ascendant," is a retelling of scenes from the third act of the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
