The Original Trilogy Stories saw its release in the United States on September 1, 2015. This book, intended for children aged 3 to 5, presents retellings of events and scenarios taken from the original trilogy films.
In November of 2015, Disney–Lucasfilm Press made available three condensed eBook versions of The Original Trilogy Stories. Each of these eBooks contained the short stories that adapt a specific film from the original trilogy. A New Hope: 6 stories in 1 and Return of the Jedi: 6 stories in 1 were both launched on November 10, 2015, and are adaptations of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, respectively. On November 17, The Empire Strikes Back: 6 stories in 1 was launched, adapting Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
On November 22, 2016, Disney–Lucasfilm Press published a reprinted special edition of the book. An unabridged audiobook was launched alongside the Prequel Trilogy stories on March 19, 2019.
Star Wars Treasury: The Original Trilogy, which was released by Egmont UK Ltd in 2015, shares many of the same illustrations found in The Original Trilogy Stories, including the identical cover art.
